What Our Chess Coaches Do:

ChessKidsNation is an affiliate of the United States Chess Federation (USCF) which offers after school programs, private group classes and online classes. We are currently hiring chess coaches to teach chess to children in afterschool programs in Elementary and Middle schools.

The Job:

After School Programs – You will be coaching in a chess class at a school for approximately 15 to 20 students. In the class you will be responsible for the safety of the students, having fun and teaching chess, and building a good relationship with students. Coaching consists of 20-30 minutes of teaching and then 30-40 minutes of supervised playing. We provide training to all our coaches and provide resources including our special Chess Curriculum, laptop, projector, and full chess management team.

Online Chess Programs – You will be coaching in an online chess class for 1 – 10 students. In the online class you will be responsible for having fun and teaching chess and building a good relationship with students. Coaching consists of 20-30 minutes of teaching and then 30-40 minutes of online playing. We provide training to all our coaches and provide resources including our special Chess Curriculum and full chess management team.

Duties: Teach the game of chess in an entertaining, fun and organized manner. Some light administrative duties and basic computer chess programs.

Skills & Qualifications: If you love chess, and you are good with kids, you are a great candidate for the job.

Being good at chess is not a must, you must love chess and be willing to work on your chess.
Must love children and be good working with groups of children.
Must pass a full background check.
Must have good English skills.
All coaches need reliable transportation to get to school for After School Programs.
Must be punctual and on time to any scheduled class.
Must be available on weekday afternoons from 2-4 pm for After School Programs.

Although we pay well by the hour, instructors usually only work 1-2 hours a day. For our very best instructors we offer many additional hours during the school day and provide year end bonus.

This job is ideal for people looking for teaching experience. Teach kids a game that they love! It is an extremely fun job, and happy, energetic people tend to perform very well.
