Young Minds, Big Battles & A Community United Through Chess ♟️

There are tournaments where players simply compete

And then there are tournaments where you can actually feel the energy in the room — nervous smiles before round one, intense concentration during games, parents quietly watching every move, clocks ticking down, pieces flying across the board, and young players discovering what real tournament chess feels like.

The ChessKidsNation & Hoover Library Foundation Tournament 2026 was exactly that kind of event

Hosted at the beautiful Hoover Library, the tournament brought together 54 passionate young chess players from Kindergarten through High School for a full day of competitive chess, learning, sportsmanship, and community spirit. The event was organized as a charity fundraiser in support of the Hoover Library Foundation, making the tournament meaningful both on and off the board.

A Tournament Full of Fighting Spirit

From the very first round, players showed tremendous focus and determination. Some games ended in tactical fireworks. Others became long endgame battles where patience and calculation decided the winner.

What made the event special was not just the trophies — it was the atmosphere.

You could see young players analyzing games together after rounds, parents cheering quietly from the sidelines, and students learning how to handle pressure, victories, and tough losses. These are the moments that help young chess players grow.

At ChessKidsNation, we believe tournaments are one of the best ways for children to improve not only their chess skills, but also confidence, discipline, decision-making, and resilience. This tournament reflected all of those values beautifully
