Alabama Scholastic Chess Championships – March 2014

ChessKidsNation Chess Players had an Amazing and Outstanding performance at Alabama Scholastic Chess Championships at University of Montevallo on Saturday (March 15, 2014) and Sunday (March 16, 2014). 34 players from ChessKidsNation played in this tournament. Congratulations to all our players and special thanks to all the parents who made this event a GREAT SUCCESS. Our Players really worked very hard for the past several months and in particular last two weeks attending their daily practice sessions.

Our Special Congratulations to Samson Sands for winning the Co-Championship in Junior High (K-8) Section in Individual Championship. Also Our Special Congratulations to Junior High (K-9) Team Champions (Sijing Wu, Vikhram Balagee, Samson Sands, Colin Bamford) who set the record in Alabama Chess Federation history by winning all 16 games they played.

    • Fifth Place – Rochelle Wu with 4 out of 5 points

K – 6 Elementary Section

  • Third Place – Rahul Boddupalli with 4 out of 5 points
  • Fourth Place – Labdhi Mehta with 4 out of 5 points

K -8 (Junior High)

  • Co-Champion Samson Sands 3.5 out of 4 points
  • Fourth Place – Cesar Juarez 3.0 out of 4 points

K-12 (Open)

  • Fourth Place – Vikhram Balagee 2.5 out of 4 points

2014 North Calorina K-12 Chess Championship – March 2014

Savitra Kulkarni our online student from North Carolina won 2nd place in “K-8 U1400 Individual” Championship. We are very proud of Savitra’s achievement. The City of Raleigh hosted the 2014 NC K-12 Chess Championship March 1-2. This was the 40th anniversary event and was held at the Raleigh Convention Center, 500 S Salisbury St, Raleigh, NC 27601-2114, right in the heart of our capital city. They had over 640 players registered.

Savitra Kulkarni from Metrolina Regional Scholars’ Academy finished as the 2nd runner up in “K-8 U1400 Individual” category. He scored 5.5 points out of 7.

We are very happy to announce the following National Championship winners at the 2014 National Junior High Championship held at Atlanta from April 25-27, 2014.

  • Riley Smith 6th Grader from Birmingham, Alabama scored 6 points out of 7 games tied for 3rd place and got 8th place Trophy in K-9 Under 1000 section. Riley gained 225 points in this tournament. 231 players played in this
  • Hemachandra Rambha 2nd grader from Nashville, Tennessee scored 5.5 points out of 7 games tied for 3rd place and got 14th place Trophy in K-9 Under 1250 section. Hemi gained 56 rating points in this Hemi was the TOP 2nd grader in the country among all 2nd graders participated in this section. 212 players in this section.
  • Vikram Ruppa 8th grader from Atlanta, Georgia scored 5 points out of 7 games tied for 4th place and got 29th place in K-9 Under 1250 section. Vikram gained 67 rating points in this tournament. 212 players in this 28 players from ChessKidsNation played in this tournament. CONGRATS to all the winners and all our players who competed in this National tournament. We are very happy and proud of our student’s achievements. We also thank all the parents for their support and encouragement without which this would not been possible.

Tuscaloosa Scholastic Chess Championships – April 2014

ChessKidsNation Chess Players had a GREAT performance at Tuscaloosa Scholastic Chess Championships at Tuscaloosa on Saturday (April 12, 2014). 14 players from ChessKidsNation played in this tournament. Congratulations to all our players and special thanks to all the parents who made this event a GREAT SUCCESS.

Our Special Congratulations to Rishi Yellamraju for winning the K-3 section and Samson Sands for winning K-12 Section in Individual Championship. Both Samson and Rishi won 5 points each.

Open Section

  • Sijing Wu won Second Place with 2.5 points.

Reserve Section

  • Rochelle Wu was tied for Third place with 2.5

Central Alabama Team Scholastic Chess Tournament – September 2014 

ChessKidsNation players won FIRST PLACE in K-3 section, FIRST PLACE and SECOND PLACE in K-12 section at Central Alabama Team Scholastic Chess Tournament today. We are very proud of all our players and Winners who worked very hard. We started this season on a good note. Very Proud of our team.

K-12 First Place – Sijing Wu, Samson Sands, Colin Bamford, Luke Cai – Team Scored 14 points out of 16.

K-12 Second Place – Rahul Boddupalli, Cesar Juarez, Prateek Yash Mishra, Joseph Jun – Team Scored 10 Points out of 16.
